Tribute to Watership Down - Made with C64 sounds only + vocals

Bloody hellfire! I didn't know what I was in for when I chose this song. It's unusual chord progressions and sweeping tempo really tested me.

Bright Eyes is from at late 70s animated movie, Watership Down. How this movie was deemed acceptable for young audiences astounds me. I've never seen so much bunny-blood!

I've a newfound appreciation for Simon & Garfunkel of late and Art Garfunkel being the singer for this song is what lured me into musical theory despair but I worked it out and learned a few thing too, I hope.

As always, made with love.
Enjoy.

lyrics

Is it a kind of a dream
Floating out on the tide
Following the river of death downstream
Oh, is it a dream?
There's a fog along the horizon
A strange glow in the sky
And nobody seems to know where it goes
And what does it mean?
Oh, is it a dream?
Bright eyes, burning like fire
Bright eyes, how can you close and fail?
How can the light that burned so brightly
Suddenly burn so pale?
Bright eyes
Is it a kind of a shadow
Reaching into the night
Wandering over the hills unseen
Or is it a dream?
There's a high wind in the trees
A cold sound in the air
And nobody ever knows when you go
And where do you start?
Oh, into the dark
Bright eyes, burning like fire
Bright eyes, how can you close and fail?
How can the light that burned so brightly
Suddenly burn so pale?
Bright eyes
Bright eyes, burning like fire
Bright eyes, how can you close and fail?
How can the light that burned so brightly
Suddenly burn so pale?
Bright eyes

Gavin (zer0Page) Graham Brisbane, Australia

I was a demoscene programmer back in the 80s on the Commodore 64 computer. Part of what I did was write a sound player to exploited tricks to make its sound chip to some conceptually far fetched tricks.
Years later, I've revived my musical bent for the C64 but now I combine modern songs with these sounds of one of the greatest sounding computers of any generation.
